Split-Soundhole Classical Guitar

Split-Soundhole Classical Guitar

Inspired by the work of Francisco Simplicio toward the end of his career, this guitar has the soundhole relocated to either side of the fretboard. The advantage of this design is that it extends the vibrating area of the soundboard, creating a more robust tone than typically heard on a conventional classical guitar, yet there is no loss of volume or projection.
This instrument is build on my standard concert classical size plantilla. The soundboard is Engelmann spruce, the back and sides are Panama rosewood. The 12-hole bridge is Brazilian rosewood. Tuning machines are Sloane.
